One Month update...

It has been one month today since Scott had his surgery. It has been a tough month. Healing is taking place with the incision site, the problems are with "finding" foods to eat and agree with his digestive process and energy level. Things are coming along though.

We look forward to our next visit and CT scan on the 15th at the Uof M with Dr. Greeno. This scan will be the "new" baseline scan since the surgery. We will also find out about the next phase of chemo.

Keep your healing thoughts and prayers heading Scott's way.

Have a great weekend everyone, I am going to see the "American Idols" in concert with Claire & Jen this weekend...yes I know, I am way into this!! :-)

Take care - Roxane

Have a Great week you two--
Say Rox isn't there a "age limit"
to get into the American Idol Concert?

???????
Happy one month anniversary! Have a good weekend. I talked to Juanita last night, who had just finished talking to your mom. Sounds as if all is going well. She told her about the house. We are off to WB (where else in the world do we go?) in a few hours. I'll talk to you again next week.
Take care....love, cousin Kris
Hi Rox and Scott,
Wow--one month anniversary already--time sure flies!!
Sounds like things are going very well!!
We just got back from a week in WI--I had a great time with family while Derek and Danielle were in the Boundary Waters with John's sister and husband. Very hot week, both places!!
Got home to very dry plants outside--not a drop of rain again--unbelievably dry weather down here in IL!!
Just a shame, especially for the farmers!
THANK GOODNESS FOR A/C-HUH!!
Continue your great progress--hope that you find lots of good, satifying foods!!
Rox, I bet that the American Idol show was very good--sounds like a very fun time!!
Who was your favorite at the concert?
Lots of Love to you both,
Bernie W.

Scott seems to be getting much better with his eating and digestion issues he has been having, his weight is still holding also!!! He has been doing more activity and his strength seems to be coming along too, he's working on this football draft, I have my "laundry guy" back and he even mowed the front lawn yesterday!!!

Keep the thoughts heading our way :-)

Chemo starts again...

We met with Dr. Greeno today, and had a CT. The computers were all "down" at the U with an internal virus, so Dr. Greeno was unable to give us a result from the scan. We are anxious for that result, he will call when the scan can be read.

Chemo will start again next Thursday, and all that Scott will have to do is get a shot each week (for 6 weeks) and blood work. This will be the last round of chemo, he will follow up with another CT scan the end of October.

Dr. Greeno said he was very happy with the surgery results and that is the best outcome that we could expect, treatment is working!!

Just read your latest update. Glad to know that all is going as well as we were all hoping and praying for. Good luck with the last of the chemo treatments. This road is long, but there is a lot more behind you than there is ahead of you. You're almost done!
Take care. Love, cousin Kris
P.S. I am really not up as late as this thing says. It is set for YOUR TIME, not mine. Remember, I am 2 hours ahead of you. So with that, I really will go to bed now.
Great!! Sounds like things are going so well!!
Bet that that home 'therapy' is really helping (laundry, mowing,,,).
Keep up the great job of recovery.
I hope that you can get out and enjoy the Fall weather soon. I think that we are finally getting close to the end of this HOT stuff!!
Love to you all,
Bernie W.

Round #3 begins...

Today was Scott first chemo visit for round 3. I'm not sure if I have blogged before about our new Clinical RN, her name is Carrie and she has been very helpful to us since she took over for Judy, RN. Carrie met us at our appointment today @2 and we got to talk a lot about this next phase of treatment and what to expect, we are all hoping that it will be pretty uneventful.

We spent about 1 1/2 hrs at the clinic, Scott got his blood work done, and we waited for results (they were good) so treatment was started. Treatment will consist of a small IV "bag" of zofran, a drug that helps with side effects from the chemo drug which took about 25 minutes to run in, after that was done our RN Mary gave Scott a shot of the 5fu in the IV tube. The blood draw and drugs will all be done through the port they put in Scott's chest last January, the port has really saved Scott a lot of needle picks and pokes.

So for the next five weeks we will make the drive up to the U again, traffic was really heavy today when we hit the road for home @ 3:30, we got home about 5, so almost double the time it took to get up there.

We have a busy weekend planned, Ben & Jen are coming over on Saturday to celebrate Scott's (54th) birthday with us. Sunday is "Draft Day" for Scott's Fantasy Football League, Scott as "commish" is having all the guys over here...so there will be a lot of "BS" going on ;-) Later that afternoon Claire will be heading back this way from EC to have birthday supper with us.

Thanks for your calls, emails, notes, thoughts and prayers, we really appreciate your support and good wishes!!

Roxane & Scott
