Good Luck Dad!

Hi all! As you know today is the first of 2 tests for my Dad. :) I am confident that the news will be good, but I need everyone to send him some great thoughts! It's time for some GOOD NEWS, right? Right!

Everyone have a great day! We will post results as soon as we can!

Love to everyone,

Claire

UPDATE!!!!

I just talked to my mom and the test results were similar to last time. There are a few spots that were biopsied, but other than that, NO SPREADING! The doctors will all talk now, and hopefully a plan will be in effect in the coming weeks! What a STRONG guy, huh?

I will let my mom give a full rundown when she gets a chance!

EUS results

Hi all - The procedure for the EUS was completed today with no complications. The result of the findings are still not all finalized, but basically as we understand it, things look pretty much the same as the last exam. The tumor near the aorta vein has shrunk slightly though which is good. Dr. Mallery took several tissue samples and a fluid sample of the tumor, we will await results on these. There is no sign of distant metastasis (spreading of the disease).

Next appointment is with Dr. Greeno on June 14th, earlier that same day Scott will have a CT scan.

We are hoping for "all clear" on the biopsy and a push on toward surgery.

We are not planning too much for this weekend, Scott is resting now, I think they gave him a little extra sleepy time drug this time around.

Scott & Steve are planning a fishing trip next week at Steve and Judy's place, wish for good weather and biting fish!!

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Roxane

The fisherman is back...the move is on

Good Morning - Scott had a great time with Steve up north, and they even managed to catch some fish!! Scott is already trying to figure out the next trip.

While Scott was gone, Claire and I (& Scruffy) were getting ready for the move. We were doing a little packing and cleaning. Today we hope to complete the move, we got some more muscles now. Kyle is here to help, and Ben & Jen are coming over and Linda said she can do some hauling too!! The move is only about a block from where Claire lives . If we move between the rain drops it will be great!

We also get to meet Lily today. Ben & Jen and Toby welcomed little Lily to the family this week. Toby is excepting his little furry new sister to the family just fine. Toby and Scruffy met last weekend, they got along fine, but it is interesting how dogs really do have personalities.

Of coarse we are anxious for our visit to the clinic on Tuesday, We are happy to be a little "extra" busy this weekend. I will post the results as soon as I am able, but we do not see Dr. Greeno until 2:30 that day. We will get all the test results and form the next step for our plan. Scott is feeling great though, we thinks he added a few more pounds due to Steve's feeding him very well on the fishing trip!!

Have a good weekend everyone, send all your positive thoughts our way :-)

Lots of love and good wishes!

Roxane

Today's appts. went well :-)

Hi all - today's appointments both went well, CT scan and visit with Dr. Greeno. We were told by Dr. Greeno to see the surgeon!!! Dr. Greeno thought this would be a good time for surgery because Scott is stronger and feeling well. We see Dr. Sielaff on the 20th @ 10 a.m., we should be setting a date for surgery.

We are happy with the results today, and will keep you posted as we know more.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and well wishes!!!!!! :-)

Surgery Date set...

Hi everyone - We saw Dr. Sielaff today, and he explained what he needs to do surgically to remove the tumor according to Scott's current tests and scans. He felt that the treatment program is very beneficial in slowing the tumor down, and shrinking the tumor somewhat, he sees no spreading of the cancer. Dr. Sielaff and Dr. Greeno feel that this is the best time to go for the surgical removal of the tumor, 80% of the pancreas, his spleen and the involved stomach wall. The last phase of chemo will occur after recovery from the surgery.

The surgery date is Monday, July 11th, 8 a.m. @ Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, MN. The surgery was not scheduled sooner due to Dr. Sielaff having a scheduled vacation and he did not want to do the surgery, and then be unavailable, we like the idea of the vacationed, rested and relaxed surgeon :-)

We expect Scott to be in the hospital 5-7 days following the surgery, and it is expected to take about 4 hours. Dr. Sielaff is an excellent surgeon; his parting words were...take care of yourself and let's get to work!

We will keep busy for these next several days, Scott is feeling very well and getting a great tan, he plans to get a some fishing and visiting in before he lays low for a few weeks post-surgery.

Keep the good thoughts heading our way!!

Roxane & Scott

Hi - things are working again

Hi all - if you have been wondering why at times you cannot log into this site, Ben has been having his share of troubles with his web service, now things should be back to normal.

Just a couple comments this evening...

Scott has been asked to participate in a "study" that Dr. Sielaff is doing regarding pancreas cancer. All Scott needs to do is give up his tumor, and some blood, he figures he won't need the tumor, and has plenty of blood to share, and that he will be "rechecked" every six months. We don't know much more then that right now regarding this study, the papers are in the mail for Scott to read and sign. We do know the more they can learn about this disease the more able they may be to help others, and we are all for that!!

We drove up to Minong to visit with Steve & Judy on Saturday, it was a great day, perfect weather and great food too, not much luck on the fishing though.

Scott is heading up to the clinic @ the U tomorrow (all by himself) to get a blood test, they are just keeping "tabs" on him while we wait for the surgery date.

Take care everyone and have a great week!!

Roxane

Good Morning Roxy & Scott

Great news on the upcoming surgery. I have been on the road and out of touch for a couple of weeks so it was great to see the progress you've made with your treatments and pending surgery. As you know our prayers, best wishes, and love are always with you. Hang in there buddy.

All our love
Bob & Susan

P.S. When did you become a fisherman? Didn't know you had the patience. Just kidding!
That is great that you are willing and able to partake in a study--you are right--it will for sure help others!
We may be driving through the RF area after the 4th, so may try to call and see if you are up to a short visit.
Have a good week and 4th weekend!
Summer is FLYING by!
Keep cool!
Love,
