Monday May 2nd

Hi Everyone,

We had our appointment today and everything went well. Dr. Tanya Watson saw me and seemed pleased with my progress and lack of side effects with the new phase of chemo therapy. In and out in one and a half hour, lots better than every day of the week. We just had supper, I've moved up from a small sandwich to a half a sub, you know what's next. Write more later.

Scott

Now that you are feeling well and eating well, you should start on the weather. No more movie reviews( unless it includes John Wayne and/or Marilyn Monroe), just weather improvements.

Glad to hear your eating well Scott. Diet Coke always tastes funny.
Jim McCarthy
Always glad to read good news. Sounds like things are progressing well. Keep hanging tough. Weekend went well here too. Bill Cosby was FUNNY. Kari & I enjoyed seeing him in person. It was the highlight of the weekend. This weekend we are going to our WB house, but it is mostly to work. Kids are going over there too for Mother's Day weekend. So some of it will be fun. Take care. Advice from me: ANY diet anything tastes funny in my opinion. Try something regular and you might have better luck. Love to all....cousin Kris
Hello Uncle Scott,

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better and able to eat more. It sounds like things are really moving in the right direction.

We are looking forward to seeing you this weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Lots of Love,

Weekend Update...

Hi everyone - Scott is doing well, but still not sleeping a restful sleep yet. When we head to the U on Monday, I think we will speak to the Dr. Watson again. Scott has been busy though doing a lot of things around the house and yard this week, he also went to the library a couple times and is enjoying sitting and reading his books, he has a couple in the line up.

Busy day planned today, we are heading over to CF to have lunch with my parents and dinner with all the Hedrington's at Terry & Laurie's celebrating with our Mom's.

The kids are coming over tomorrow to visit -Ben & Jen are getting another puppy soon, Toby will have a little sister. Ben has posted pictures of Lily on the web site in the photos section if you want to take a peak. Claire went to EC this weekend to visit with Kyle. She brought a lot of work with her to do while Kyle is working, she has a busy month of May ahead of her. Claire will also be moving to a different apartment in RF in mid-June.

So all is well, just about at mid-point in this phase of treatment, and looking forward to the re-check tests in mid-June.

We appreciate all the kind words, thoughts and prayers that we receive each day.

Roxane

Week 4 - All looks good!!

Hi - we just got back from the U. Scott is all "reloaded" for week four. His "numbers" are staying good, and a few have even improved, this round of chemo is going a lot better then the last.

We had a earlier appointment today in St. Paul with the RR Retirement Board, that went well, and we even had all our paper work in order, so the process for disability has started, we will see what they rule. Since things went so smooth with the RR we were actually early for the clinic, but as usual they are very willing to get you in and out and on your way home.

Scott is feeling well, just a little tired...but we are on the downward slope with the treatment now, the finish line date is May 31st!!

Week Five - and so it goes...

Hi all - We had a very busy and productive weekend. Saturday, we visited at Jim's place, he hosted a picnic in honor of the Bosler family, (yes in the rain) but it was warm inside with plenty of good food and conversations, we visited with all The Olson's and Hedrington's and friends of Amber, Ryan and Abigail (and baby #2 on the way). They are probably glad to get back home to TN after the cold, wet days they spent here in WI. Scott and Terry headed to another event, Jerry Hedrington's 80th birthday celebration, Scott got to see and talk with a lot of people he hasn't seen for quite a while. I even got to see a few of my family members, my parents, Jeff & Julie for a bit, so Saturday was a busy day. Scott was a tropper and hung in there, we left RF @ 10:30 a.m. and didn't get home that evening until about 9:30 p.m.

Sunday, after a late wake up, Scott went out in the garage for some cleaning up and putting away of things that have piled up, can you believe it...Christmas decorations were still sitting around!! I was doing inside cleaning, with an occasionally call for "help" from the garage. We took a lunch break to Quizzno's in Hudson. Then lo and behold, the sun decided to shine for a little while, so that meant we needed to get the lawn and bushes trimmed up between the expected rain again this week. So, all looks pretty good around 1841 Wisconsin Street, only a "few" cross words to each other regarding the fine art of shrub trimming!!

Off to the clinic today, yes it started to rain...wasn't suppose to until tomorrow...oh well. Things were good with Scott's "numbers" again, on goes the new "ball" and off we head for home (in the pouring rain & heavy traffic). One more "refuel", and hopefully he will be ready for surgery?? The clinic is wanting to re-schedule Scott's EUS from June 10th to June 3rd...we asked them to check with Dr. Greeno regarding the early date, the "plan" said two weeks rest then retest, so we don't really know for sure about that test date yet, the CT Scan for the 14th looks secure...but who knows, change is good right??

So we are hanging in there and getting out and around a lot more...hey we just had Tacos for supper...first time since November...let's see how this works!!! :-)

And, as always...thanks, thank you, thank you very much... for all the love and support we receive each and everday from all of you.

Roxane & Scott

It's a go - June 3rd - first re-test date!!

Hi all - Just a quick update. The EUS will be on the 3rd of June, that test will show the size and condition of the tumor and any effects of the cancer on Scott's other organ's. We would expect that Dr. Mallery will give us a immediate report of his findings. The second re-check test, the CT Scan is still scheduled for the 14th, also our follow-up appointment with Dr. Greeno will occur that same day. We are hoping again to meet with the surgeon (Dr. Sielaff), but there is a chance that we will do the third round of chemo first.

Keep the positive vibes heading Scott's way, he is really doing great with this round of treatment!!

Roxane

Glad to see round two going so well. Sorry we missed everyone last weekend, but with Mike working Saturdays it's hard to get up north to see everyone. Steve and Judy haven't seen John since Feb.

As always our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. You should here John for our supper prayer, if by chance we don't chime in right away, John always says "prayer for Uncle Scott!" it is so cute!!

Take care,
Mike, Susan and John - Hartford, WI

PS Do you know when the warm weather is supposed to come - I'm waiting !! Susan!

Hey tar feet and roxie, everything going good for you guys and im so glad to here that! oN YOUR LAST WEEK AND YOUR DOING GREAT. Well I got home late tonight and I have to tell you that I saw the light. I was on my train, and im pretty sure It was Fort Mccoy Testing out a new plane of some sort, but It was kind of spooky, I was loking for Rod Serling from the twlight Zone to step into the cab of the engine, but we were going 35mph, and I dont think he's that fast, plus he's dead. Anyway I saw a light in the sky, and it stayed there for a little while, and i asked the other guy im with if he saw it, and of coarse it went out. But it came back on ,and he saw it which made me feel better. The one light turned into three lights at an angle to the left and then three lights came on the right side at an angle and it looked like a V going thru the sky then It went out. And that was It. Im not Kidding. Except for the fact that something turned the guy im working with into what looked like a large penis. Love ya and give me a call tomorrow. Im going to bed now. DIRT

Welcome Scruffy???

Hi all - something very unexpected to report...Scott and I are getting a dog!!! A friend at work had a 3 year old Cairn Terrier (a dog like Toto from Wizard of Oz) of to give away to a good home...well I said YES...we have been "sort of" thinking about a puppy...but this will be a even better situation for us - I think. So tomorrow, Scruffy, (he is gray) will be delivered to Scott in the a.m. Scruffy's family is moving in with their in-laws until their new home is built...so they must "give up" one of their pets. We hear Scruffy is nice mannered and smart, and loves people and is good with kids. This should be interesting!!! Wish us luck!!

Regarding Scott's appointment on the 3rd for the EUS, he has just been moved back to 9:30 a.m., we are still to check in by 7:30 that day, so we are glad it was just a time change, we will still see Dr. Mallery.

Sounds like it will be a busy weekend for us, besides Scruffy becoming a family member, we plan to go to CF on Saturday for a visit, Sunday we are expecting visitors from Florida, Rod and Ray are driving up for a weeks vacation, and Monday we will celebrate Kelsey's high school graduation!!! Tuesday a.m. we are heading up to the U to get Scott's chemo ball removed and he will be free of attachments for a while...oh happy day that will be :-) :-)

Everyone have a Great Memorial Day weekend!!

Roxane & Scott

P.S. I am thinking of changing Scruffy's name to Reggie...but we will have to see him first ;-)

Free at last :-)

Hi everyone, hope you all had a safe Memorial Day weekend.

We went up to the U this a.m. and Scott was removed from his chemo ball...no more attachments!!!

We then went out for lunch and sat in the beautiful sunshine for a bit. Scott worked around the yard this afternoon for a while weeding and spreading some bark around. I took Scruffy for a hair cut, he looks very different now, and a lot more comfortable for summer weather I'm sure.

Next appointment on Friday @ 7:30 - procedure @ 9 a.m. First recheck, hoping for good news!!

Keep the good thoughts coming :-)

Roxane

Scott & Roxy,

Good choice getting a trained dog. Speaking from experience puppies can really be a pain. Have been meaning to stop in and see you. However, Julie has kept me more than busy getting ready for Jennifer's graduation. I have heard all of the horror stories about mothers and the preparation prior to graduation but dismissed the comments and advice. I now have first hand experience of a graduation mother and juist how crazy they can get. She even had me pressure washing the outside of the house in the rain. Glad it is over.

Keep posting these positive results and good news. Were all pulling for you.

So glad you are free at last. I REALLY want to make some wise crack about loosing your ball :-o, but figure maybe there's a line there somewhere I shouldn't cross!I'm the one in the family who at least knows there ARE lines there ;-) However, I'm also the one who is not as fun!

We are off on the bike today to upstate New York via Mackinac Bridge and Niagara Falls. I quit taking my diauretics- hope that will keep me out of the bathroom better. Can't forget Roxie's comment after you guys were there. All that running water....

We will be thinking of you today, as always!

Our love to all!!!!!
